We all get hurt from time to time. If a person gets injured, wound healing needs time. Good news is that the recovery process can be accelerated using technologies that already exist today.

Most of wound healing science is done by military, which is not surprising given the overall nature of their activities and associated risks. The following video introduces one of the latest advances developed by NATO scientists: special high-tech smart bandage which monitors the wound and can provide information about the healing progress.

This special sensor integrates with a skin patch and provides vital information for doctors so that they can quickly evaluate which wound needs the most urgent care, and what exactly is happening – bandage can monitor several parameters, including tissue temperature and pH levels.

All this is already a great help – but the possibilities are not limited at just this point. The bandage can be coupled with stem cell technology, which speeds up healing time of some wound types from one month down to just 10 days.
