The major goal of the immune system consists in maintenance of both internal environment and structural integrity of the body by providing anti-infectious protection and anticancer defense. In fact, the immune system is able to recognize abnormal tumorogenenic cells and to prevent their further uncontrolled growth. The purpose of immunotherapy is to stimulate antitumor immune responses and to generate a long-term antitumor immune memory in cases when natural antitumor defense mechanisms are insufficiently effective, such as in advanced cancer patients. These cancer immunotherapy technologies have been developed:
- Polyantigenic anticancer vaccine
- Adoptive leukocite immunotherapy
- Antitumor cellurar vaccination
